– COLLABORATIONS SECTION –

Extremophile (‘extreme’ with the suffix -philos, from the Greek philéô, to love) is the adjective assigned to those organisms capable of growing and thriving in extreme conditions, i.e. in hostile environments, due to high temperature, acidity or salt concentration. They are therefore those who, as ‘lovers’ of extreme habitats, live differently from the rest of the living.

This is what happens to the protagonists of Alexandra Badea’s work – as the title suggests – which traverses three (or more) stories of love and restlessness. A ministry chief of staff falls in love with a left-wing militant, while a teacher blows himself up in front of a school; a marine biologist is torn between working as a researcher and working for a powerful multinational corporation that devastates the seabed; an Israeli soldier, who pilots drones from a distance, watches his enemies make love on the terraces of their homes.

Rodríguez stages the text by bringing into dialogue the faults and the forgotten dreams, the intimate and the political, and says: “when these characters talk about their work and link it to love, in some way they are also talking about a world that is becoming unbearable”.

At the end of the first performance on 19 May, the company and the director will meet the audience.
